Do you find yourself making a lot of decisions for your family? Even when there are options?
If your answer is yes, then please ask yourself this;
1. Can my child decide or do it on their own?
2. How much can they do on their own?
Some parents and teachers feel like they need to do all the decision-making, planning and so on. Many children may go along with it and others may get frustrated.
Its true that every one of us need guidance and assistance in some things but not in everything.
For example, a parent may decide to homeschool and teach Arabic but the manner can depend on the childs learning style as well parents teaching style. A smaller example can be where parents decide it’s reading time but you can let your child choose what to read and where to sit and so on.
As parents we have full right to make decisions for our children as long as there is no harm involved. We must also remember to let the child make their own choices as this encourages independence and growth.
In other words, children need guidance and they also need growth.
Last point. Remember, ‘You’re not living your Homeschool dream until your child is living it too!’
